Are Recruiter jobs dissappearing?

If you were to ask me if Recruiter Jobs were disappearing, I would say… “That depends.” I looked up some stats (Courtesy of and did a quick side by side comparison. If you look at jobs that have the title “Recruiter,” then there is a definite negative trend there. If you look at jobs titled “Professional Recruiter” and “IT Recruiter,” then you may have some reason for paranoia if those titles describe what you do. (Yikes!)

Are Recruiter jobs dissappearing?

However, if you recruit in the Healthcare fields, then it looks like you are quite busy. This is especially true if you are looking to hire Physicians. (Aye Caramba!) If you are a “HR Recruiter” you might want to lay low and try to ride this storm out because (by the chart) I don’t see much sunshine heading your way. I suppose the same could be said for Executive Recruiters as well. Actually, these days, I would steer Executive Recruiters towards hiring Doctors which should not be too difficult a transition.

Anyways, here are a few charts to consider. Please review and let me know what you think?

I have only one bit of caution for our brethren who would consider the transition into the healthcare arena… be prepared for a culture shift, the likes of which you’ve probably never seen before.

I made the transition from IT to Healthcare back in 2004 and just recently left the healthcare industry. There are too many items to cover in the comment, but the short list includes the entitlement attitude of nurses, the entitlement attitude of physicians and finally the reality that some facilities may be operating a few months/years behind current business norms.
