While I love the SHRM Annual Conference, it’s the connections, the friendships, and the comradery that I enjoy the most. As somewhat of an introvert I find making friends with strangers sometimes a challenge, and maybe you do too especially when there are over 15,000 conference attendees to choose from. Over the last few years, I’ve created a number of small and intimate events that focus on making friendships and building relationships at the SHRM Annual Conference. Last year I hosted a pretty fabulous haunted pub crawl, and I have been thinking really hard about how I might be able to top that.

Join the Amazing HR Race & Pub Crawl at #SHRM18

This year I am hosting the first annual Amazing HR Race. It’s part pub crawl and part scavenger hunt. Two-person teams travel around Chicago hopping from cocktail lounges and bars enjoying an adult beverage and picking up hidden clues along the way that will lead them to their next bar destination. You can select the solo ticket option where I’ll pair you with someone else attending the conference or register for a team person team.

Race teams will enjoy cocktails at locations and have a chance to win a $500 in prize money for first place, second place $250 and third place is $100 for up to 50 teams registers. For every 25 teams we have registered over the initial 50 teams, the prize money will increase by $100 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third. As we increase registrations the number of cocktails available at each location will also increase. I’ll make the final announcement as we get closer to race time.

How to Enter Your Team in the Amazing HR Race

The cost to enter the Amazing HR Race as a team is $50 or a solo ticket for $35. I’ll pair the solo tickets with another conference attendee at random. Join in the fun, meet new friends, and earn a chance to win fabulous prizes. You can register for the event below or by visiting our Eventbrite page. Once the race has is complete, we will continue the after party at the final race destination. If you aren’t competing in the Amazing HR Race, you can sign up to receive alerts for the final location by texting ‘SHRM’ to 55678. If you are interested in sponsoring the Amazing HR Race and being the point of contact at one of the five bar checkpoint destinations, please email me at jessica(at)workology(dot)com.

I look forward to seeing you there. I think this one will be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to be waiting at the finish line with a cold one just for you. Feel free to share the fun by using the #amazingHRrace hashtag on social media.
