HR is in the spotlight now more than ever, HR leaders are busy supporting company programs, hiring efforts, strategies, and helping organizations shape what their workforce looks like in the midst of a global health crisis. So how do we balance our own career development with our careers?
Episode 238: Why HR Needs an Executive Coach with Ann Fry (@AnnFry)
Ann Fry, MSW, PCC, is an executive leadership coach and speaker. She has extensive experience working with organizations of all sizes, both training and coaching their high potential and leadership teams. She’s also one of Workology’s UpSkill HR executive coaches and has been working with HR leaders to provide support and structure for career development.
What Is Executive Coaching?
One of the reasons I wanted to create this program for executive coaching program just for HR professionals is from my own personal experience and working with a coach.I experienced really great clarity working with an executive coach and have had the ability to grow personally and professionally very quickly. Our program helps HR professionals really hone in on the work that they need to do to be able to to achieve their their dreams, whatever their personal professional goals might be.
Executive coaching Ann says that it’s a professional relationship between a trained coach and a client with the goal to enhance the client’s leadership or management performance and development. Our UpSkill HR members work with Ann in a group coaching format, however, I felt like individual coaching is best when it is one on one giving you maximum growth in the shortest amount of time. Ann’s background is one of what she calls an accidental entrepreneur. She has a background as a therapist and was drawn to executive coaching because it offers a chance to provide guidance and advice in a way that traditional therapy does not offer.
Conclusion
We all need a strategic plan. How many times have you asked other people where they see themselves in five years, in 10 years? Can you still answer those questions yourself? It’s important that we get the tools we need to lead our own growth and development in HR, no matter what the economy looks like. Taking charge of our professional growth is the first step to future-proofing our careers in HR.
