It’s been an interesting year working for myself and building my business at Xceptional HR.  I’ve traveled to two countries outside the U.S. and attended more conferences than I can count in addition to my book coming out.  All in all, it’s been a great year and I’m not done yet.

In fact, I’m heading to Dallas later today to speak at the HR Southwest Regional Conference.  I’ll be presenting on Wednesday about “How Social Media is Changing HR.”  An important topic in my opinion to help spread the message and demonstrate value in social media to the human resource community.

But being independent and freelance consultant has its challenges specifically on the traveling front.  Greg, my husband is working on a long-term project in Philadelphia for our company and spends more days there than at home.  This is especially challenging with a almost 2 year old toddler while I’m also working to run a business, let alone juggling my schedule and the extended travel.

So I’m taking a step back and shifting my focus.

And focusing on family and working on virtual projects or those close to home.  I will be speaking at a limited number of events in the coming months as a keynote or training facilitator.  Look for a special announcement about this later this week or next.  Of course, I’m always available for consulting and other projects. . .

My Focus in the coming 12 months.

  • Keynote Speaking.
  • Webinars.
  • Training and Facilitating.
  • Writing.
  • Consulting.
  • Writing.

The next several months I will be focusing my time on writing and communication using more traditional channels.   I’m open to freelance writing and other opportunities, so if you have them, give me a shout.  I believe that if we (the social media HR community) are looking to change, influence and educate our peers, we need to be communicating with them in different ways.  I’m looking for platforms, venues, and opportunities to accomplish this.

Don’t worry.  I’ll be around.  The blogging, tweeting, Facebooking, and other communication stream will continue to flow.  I’m just re-evaluating my audience and looking for new and exciting ways to generate conversations and introducing this new media world to a new audience in a comfortable and welcoming space.

What you can do.

Give me a call, send me a tweet, or shoot me an email.  I’m open to hearing about partnerships and new opportunities, projects, and contracts.
