According to Angela Curl, assistant professor at the University of Missouri and lead author of the study, American policy makers could open the door to self-employment by creating funding for startup costs. Curl says this could allow adults to remain in the workforce longer and there could be less pressure to retire as soon as possible.

Job satisfaction is incredibly important to professionals and employers. When people enjoy their work, they’re more likely to perform better. However, not every full-time position can bring job satisfaction. In this case, people must find alternatives to increase job satisfaction. Although individuals are the ones who benefit greatly from self-employment, employers can benefit, too.
