Have you been dissatisfied with work lately?

The effects of low job satisfaction can have negative repercussions on employees and employers. If employees aren’t happy with their jobs, they’re more likely to become more stressed and less productive at work.

However, there is a solution to this dissatisfaction at work. According to a study by Pew Research, nearly forty percent of self-employed workers are completely satisfied with their jobs, compared to 28 percent of all wage or salaried employees. This presents a win-win situation for both employees and their employers.

In a recent study by the University of Missouri, it’s been reported more people are finding confidence in entrepreneurship. According to Angela Curl, assistant professor at the University of Missouri and lead author of the study, American policy makers could open the door to self-employment by creating funding for startup costs. Curl says this could allow adults to remain in the workforce longer and there could be less pressure to retire as soon as possible.

Job satisfaction is incredibly important to professionals and employers. When people enjoy their work, they’re more likely to perform better. However, not every full-time position can bring job satisfaction. In this case, people must find alternatives to increase job satisfaction. Although individuals are the ones who benefit greatly from self-employment, employers can benefit, too.

If you don’t enjoy your day job, you’re hurting yourself and your employer.

Self-employment is a win-win for the dissatisfied employee and their employer because it presents an opportunity. Employees who don’t enjoy their jobs will most likely have a negative impact on their results in the workplace. Because of this, employers will suffer from the repercussions of their employees’ poor performance. People who realize entrepreneurship is a better career path are more likely to find a satisfying job. Not only will this allow people to find a job they love, but also allow employers to find candidates best suited for their company.

Ditching your day job isn’t easy, but it can be worth it.

According to CareerBuilder, the economy holds 10 million self-employed jobs. This is a good sign for people looking to venture into their own business. Although self-employment has decreased since the recession, there is a growing optimism to pursue independent job opportunities. If you’re able to muster the courage to become an entrepreneur, you’ll be able to set yourself up for a more rewarding career. Not every person is suited for a 9-to-5 job. This is why self-employment is a good alternative for employees looking to increase their job satisfaction.

So is self-employment your answer to increased job satisfaction?

When your satisfaction at work is suffering, you need to get to the bottom of the problem. First, ask yourself what you want most out of your career. Do you want more control over your projects? Would you prefer more independence and a flexible schedule? If these sound like things you desire, you might want to consider becoming self-employed. This way, you’ll be able to find a job that better suits your needs.

Both employees and employers benefit from self-employment because it allows both to  meet their goals. Individuals will be able to find a more rewarding career path and employers will be able to hire employees better suited for a 9-to-5 position. This way, both individuals and employers will be able to improve their productivity and increase their all around job satisfaction.

Have you ever been self-employed? Did you noticed an increase in job satisfaction?
