Introducing the episode 8 of the Workology Podcast powered by Blogging4Jobs featuring social media and relationship expert, Scott Stratten.

The Workology Podcast is a place where we discuss the science and art of the workplace. Gain powerful insights, resources and perspectives on the industries of human resources and recruiting. Workology Podcast is approximately 45 minutes and distributed 4-6 times a month available here on the blog, iTunes and other traditional podcast outlets. The goal is to provide an in depth and no holes barred look into the future of our most powerful business asset, the employee.

Episode 8: Unselling in HR and Recruiting with Scott Stratten (@unmarketing)

I’ve had the privilege like many of first meeting Scott Stratten on Twitter in 2009. He’s a force in the social media spaces and provides a unique perspective into engagement and relationships for businesses today. What most people don’t know about Scott is he had a career working in HR and even was a professor of employment law before he was known as UnMarketing. Because of this Scott has great insights into working in HR and working in sales as well as marketing. His new book he co-wrote called Unselling discusses how relationships and social media matter in the new connected and engaged business world. Engagement is important prior to a prospect being in your sale funnel because 60% of consumers have said they have already made a buying decision before contacting your company.

Earlier this week I had my own podcast interview on SAP Radio where we discussed the Yelpification of Recruiting and Hiring (link listed in resources below). Scott and I talk on the Workology Podcast about how negative reviews impact recruiting, hiring and employee culture. Having a bad review can certainly be a good thing. Customers, employees and candidates have good experiences as well as bad. Review sites provide individuals a place to arm themselves with information just like in the consumer marketplace. The podcast was recorded just before the HR Technology Conference and I asked Scott about HR technology product selection and how service providers should best engage the HR community. For vendors, technology companies and service providers looking to sell to HR and recruiting, you need to give this podcast a listen.
