EPISODE 10: USING SOCIAL DATA AT WORK WITH STACY CHAPMAN (@STACYCHAPMAN)

This week’s guest, Stacy Chapman hares how social data can be used to effectively recruit candidates and build a better culture for the employees at your company. Stacy’s company, Swoop Talent focuses on pulling social data for use in recruiting but there are actually other areas of opportunity to use the information we share on social media. One of my favorites is competitor data. You can learn a lot about other organizations by the social data they share as well as by their employees. Stacy also discusses the importance of what is not shared on social media and these social channels. She cautions companies who rely on collecting and analyzing social media are missing out on massive amounts of information and data by those who choose not to share via social media. Relying heavily on this public data only give companies and scientists a small picture and insights into the information they seek.

One of the many reasons I love talking to Stacy is because of her background being someone who has worked in the field of workforce planning. I think it best if you just take a listen to the podcast above. She is utterly brilliant. Makes me think about things I never thought I would. She goes beyond just making the case f0r social media in recruiting but analyzing and understanding all the information that is shared on the interwebs. In fact, this podcast has inspired some new areas of my own research when it comes to how, when and why candidates and employees are sharing about your company. More to come on that.
