Social Media Recruitment Tools & Facebook Hiring

I got back late last night from the SHRM 2012 Annual Conference in Atlanta.  I had a great time, met with some great folks, and shared great insights into social media.  I also learned from you.  Heard your stories and drank too much.  I spoke twice during the conference.  Once during a pre-conference workshop called “Social Media 101” with my partner in crime, Carrie Corbin who is @thealphafemme on Twitter and a second time during my mega session called “How Social Media Change HR.”  The mega session was packed with over 400 in attendance.  There was standing room only, and I had an amazing time!  I also can’t forget my book signing and the amazing support for Tweet This! As promised during my session(s) I wanted to provide access to my slidedecks which are available for viewing or pdf download here.  We discussed Facebook in great length during both presentations.  It’s something I’ve written alot about either when building your employment and employer brand or as an employee engagement tool.  More importantly, employees need to understand what and when not to post and share on Facebook with their co-workers, about employer, or during work hours.  Recruiters use of these tools also varies globally which is important to consider when you are recruiting in different countries and cultures.

How to Hire and Build Employer Brand on Facebook

Carrie came across an interesting inforgraphic that we made reference during both sessions discussing Facebook Recruiting and how to hire on Facebook.  Displayed below, but first here are some quick nuggets form the graphic that caught my attention:

  • 74 percent of Facebook users visit the site daily.  Did I mention they spend 393 minutes a month in the US there was well?
  • 57 percent of Facebook users have more than 100 friends.  This is important if companies are leveraging social sharing as part of their recruiting and employment branding efforts.
  • 1 in 5 job seekers have added professional career and employment information to their Facebook time and profiles in the past year.
  • 58 percent of Facebook users have liked a brand.  This makes the case for integrating career and jobs information and listings into your company Facebook Fan Page.  It’s likely that fans of your brand are also great employees.
