Hiring the Best Employees is Good for Bottom Line

As businesses try to reduce travel and recruitment costs while maintaining applicant quality and lowering staff turnover, video interviews and hiring are becoming more and more popular. This is particularly difficult in certain corporate sectors, such as the retail, hospitality, restaurant, and call center industries. These corporate sectors place a strong priority on employing talented personnel with a lengthy tenure because turnover is frequently significant and expensive.

Employment Videos Lend Qualified Candidates

MyNextGig is a startup job board that integrates the power of video into the hiring and candidate selection process.  Simple job posting is available for $25 per posting, providing the same visibility and accessibility as other, significantly more expensive job forums. Viewing job vacancies by area and keyword is possible on a company profile (screenshot on the right). The business can highlight its perks and enjoyable workplace culture, and even add employer films to both its company profile page and specific job postings. Companies can take advantage of the power of SEO and embedded video with MyNextGig  (who I will also refer to as MNG) as they allow for tagging and other optimization features to make company job postings really pop. Plus, they make it easy.

The video theme continues as the platform also allows for companies to schedule and facilitate video interviews with the job board with qualified candidates easily. But before a recruiter schedules an interview, they can view the job seeker’s job application profile and personalized video introduction.  This video introduction is extremely important in determining a candidate’s culture and customer engagement fit because of the customer-facing positions so many companies hire for.  It’s a great way to see candidates in action and reminds me of when I would pretend to shop for appliances at various home improvement chains looking for the right candidate to fill one of my specialty positions.

Job Matching Even Before Job Seekers Apply

One of my favorite features of MNG is the candidate pre-application and qualifying questions (screenshot seen to the left).  Even before job seekers submit their applications, companies can ask job seekers to articulate up to 10 essay questions to demonstrate their writing and communication skills.

For the job seeker, they can sign up to receive alerts by email specific to location and position for the companies and brands they wish to work for.

MNG quietly launched in March of this year and has worked with notable companies like Red Robin, O’neill, and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos.  They have plans to add social sign on features and the ability to import your scheduled interviews into your Outlook calendar in the coming months.

You can check out MyNextGig.com an their $25 job posting services at www.mynextgig.com or on Twitter @mynextgig.  Tell them Jessica sent you.
