The “Godfather of HR,” Gerry Crispin, shared some stats from BLS (Bureaus of Labor Statistics) and Engineers Joint Council:
For every 100,000 US students entering the 9th grade in September 2013
– 68,000 will graduate from HS in June 2016
– 40,000 will enter college in Sept 2016
– 18,000 will graduate with a Bach. Degree by 2022 (4 to 5 Years)
– 800 of those 18,000 graduates will have a degree in Engineering
– 125 of those 800 engineering graduates will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering
– 15 of those 125 graduate with Mechanical Engineering will be women.
– By 2026 only 5 of the 15 will still be working in engineering
