2010 is already shaping up to be an exciting year and 2010 hasn’t yet begun. Even still, I can’t seem to contain myself. I have three different announcements–
- Brand-Yourself. I am now a weekly columnist for Brand-Yourself Blog. Each Wednesday I’ll be contributing to the blog and talking about personal branding, the job search, and social media. I’m honored to be a part of this great community and am extremely excited to be working with Pete Kistler and his team. Check out my first post, The Social Media Mullet: Business in the Front, Party in the Back. You may be familiar with this blog post since it received over 10,000 unique web visitors when I first posted it originally back in March of 2009.
- Edmond Active Magazine. Part of our strategy for Xceptional HR in 2010 is to cast a very wide yet targeted net and that is with folks who are outside my social media sphere of influence. Those who are newbies or folks who haven’t quite taken the plunge into the world of social media are my target audience. Edmond Active Magazine has been kind enough to allow me to be their social media and networking columnist for both their print and online magazine. Chris and Sherri are great people and I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful publication supporting the greater Oklahoma City community.
- GPHR. Over the past several weeks, I’ve watched as many of my friends and fellow HR Professionals take the Human Resource Certification Institute Exams. (Congrats to Laurie Ruettimann, April Dowling, Lisa Giles, and Johnny Nyk all for passing the SPHR!) In 2008, the world became much smaller thanks in kind to my engagement and everyone else’s in social media. Because of the amazing growth in social media, I was exposed to HR in a much more broad and global context. Taking these things into consideration and the fact that the HRCI requirements are changing in 2011, I will be sitting for the GPHR or Global Professional Human Resource certification exam sometime next year. This is the perfect time in my opinion to take the exam because of the amount of travel I will be doing in the coming months. Airports are the best places to study for these type of examinations. If you don’t believe me, look for a future blog post of how I passed the SPHR in 2008 coming soon.
Girl, You CRAZY–An exciting update
Am I crazy? You tell me but it looks like 2010 is shaping up to be a hell of a year. And BTW, shoot me an email if you have taken the GPHR or have some spare study materials you might be interested in parting with. I’m also open to a study partner so email me at [email protected].
