EPISODE 15: WORKPLACE HR TRENDS IN 2015 WITH JONI DOOLIN (@LUCKYPENNY)

Hands down one of the smartest and best people I know is Joni Doolin. She is the CEO of TDN2K, a service consortium that provides data and analytics for their member companies. Having had the privilege of both speaking and attending a number of their conferences over the last six years, Joni and her team are some of the most forward thinking business leaders in the world I have encountered. She is an innovator. I also believe that the service industry provides a great place to uncover future trends for the workplace. These two things are the reason I had to have her on as a guest to discuss workplace and HR trends for 2015.

During this episode of the Workology Podcast I talked with Joni about the future of the workplace and new trends she sees emerging and/or continuing in 2015. The current workplace is a job seekers market. It is no longer an employer marketplace. Joni shares with us why she believes that’s the case and that culture, compensation and development opportunities are essential for retaining your best employees. Link to the article she references in the podcast is provided below among resources.

THE FUTURE OF HR

Because of Joni’s unique perspective on the workplace and her experience in human capital, she shared with me some insights into where HR is heading. There have been a number of articles over the years proclaiming the death of HR, why everyone hates HR and now the suggestion that HR become two separate entities. The Harvard Business Review article (link below) suggests that HR should split into two separate areas: 1) administrative 2) strategy. You will want to hear Joni’s insights on what she thinks.

Take a listen to the podcast and make sure to connect with Joni (@luckypenny) and give her a tweet. A list of the books and resources she recommends are also listed below.
