Ep 149 – Women in HR Tech

women in hr tech

This is a special podcast episode devoted to women who work in the human resources technology industry. In this episode, we are talking to three impressive women who work in HR tech. You’ll hear about their careers, their work, and how they are leaning in to help support other women in our industry.

Episode 149: Women in HR Tech: Devon PR, MeBeBot and Intry

According to the research by 99designs, male entrepreneurs were twice as likely to raise $100,000 or more of outside funding for their startups than female entrepreneurs. It’s time to start shining a spotlight and coming together to support women in HR technology which, when you think about it, is an industry of predominantly women. HR professionals are 75% or more female vs. male. And this is the reason why I decided to shine a spotlight on women in HR tech.

But women in HR technology is more than startup founders who happen to be female. This podcast episode shines a spotlight on women in all areas of human resources technology. That might be engineers, product marketers, analysts or HR implementation consultants.

Meet Jeanne Achille of Devon (@jeanneachille)

Our first women in this women in HR tech episode is Jeanne Achille. Jeanne operates Devon as a strategic consultancy focused on helping ascending brands meet their sales, marketing and PR potential. One of her areas of deep expertise is HR technology. Jeanne is also the program chair of the Women in HR Technology Summit.

I have clawed my way up the ladder let's say both on the client side of the business and also as a woman entrepreneur. And so I'm painfully aware of what it means to be a powerless demographic in the workplace. - @jeanneachille #podcast #hrtechconf Click To Tweet

Meet Beth White of MeBeBot

Our next women in tech interview is Beth White. She’s stepped away from a career in HR and has returned to the space not as a practitioner but as an HR technology founder in the chatbot messaging and artificial intelligence space. It’s called MeBeBot.

Meet Mandy Schaniel of Intry (@mandy_schaniel)

Our next women in tech interview with Mandy Schaniel. She has an impressive background in HR tech working for a number of innovative human resources technology companies in a variety of roles. At present, Mandy works for Intry, an emerging AI-powered HR technology designed to give candidates a strategic edge in getting seen & hired, while giving the employers an opportunity to view the whole candidate.

Significantly more businesses around the world (75% in 2018 vs. 66% in 2017) now have at least one woman on the senior management team, but the proportion of the team that is female has slipped from 25% to 24%, according to Grant Thornton International Ltd.’s annual Women in Business report. We need to be lifting up and celebrating diversity within human resources as well as the supporting technology and service industry. I hope you join me.

Connect with Jean Achille, Beth White and Mandy Schaniel.
